Um navnið Grant
Í eina tíð hava vit arbeitt við at finna eitt nýtt hóskandi navn og búmerki. Vit hava havt samstarv við lýsingarstovuna Sendistovan, um at finna navnið. Sjálvt búmerkið hevur Sasho Bjartsson frá Spor sniðgivið. Í septembur 2019 varð nýggja navnið kunngjørt: GRANT.
Grant er eitt gamalt føroyskt orð, ið merkir: klárt, týðiligt, gjølligt, skilligt, neyvt og gott.
Eitt sindur av kanningararbeiði vísir, at orðið kemur fyri í gomlum tekstum sum t.d. í eini søgn um Mykines í Færøsk Anthologi 1 hjá V.U. Hammershaimb, frá 1891.
Enn á døgum sigast menn stundum at hava sæð eina oyggj fyri norðan Vágar; há fjøll eru sjónlig á henni, djúpir dalir og hvítir fossar; helst eru tað sørvágsmenn, sum hava sæð hana grant ofta, tá ið teir hava verið burtur í haga at røkta seyð har, hvar norðurhavið er havt í eygsjón.
Í kvæðum kemur orðið eisini fyri, t.d. Í Mirmants kvæði, ørindi 85.

hann mælir so for seg:
“Steffan jalsson
skalt tú nevna meg.”85 Svaraði frúgvin Sissal,
so grant hon hyggur at:
“Hvat heldur hevur tú fingið tað

Eisini í sálmum kemur orðið fyri, sum í hesum hjá Jakob Peter Mynster Paulli, sum Edmund í Garði hevur týtt til føroyskt.

eg veit, at allar ognir mínar
er borgað góðs, tú lænti mær.
Men vil tín sterka hond meg leiða,
eg altíð málið grant kann sjá
og nýggja himlavón man eiga,

Í vísuni um Ebbe Skammelsøn, fjórða ørindi, er orðið ´grant´ at hoyra tvær reisur:
"Saa grant da kender jeg Ebbe,
og Ebbe kender grant sig:
han spotter ingen stalt Jomfru,
halv mindre spotter han mig."
Orðið er sostatt eitt lýsingarorð. Tað lýsir eitthvørt, íð er klárt, týðiligt, gjølligt, skilligt ella neyvt.
Í bendingarsniði kann man siga at:
Hann er grannur,
hon er grann,
tað er grant.
Á enskum sigur sprotin soleiðis um grant:

The name is Grant
The two companys HDYGD and Aluplast were merged late last year. Trough these last months all our employees have been working hard to join forces, and learn to work together. Considered that the two companys were competitors earlier, we are very satisfied how far we have come.
The latest development is, that the merged company has implemented a new identity and company name. The new name for the merged company is Grant.
For the occation we made a short video to use in our marketing. The text in the video goes like this:
For more than half a century, we have been producing windows, doors and facades for Faroese homes and conventional buildings. For decades Faroese costumers have chosen the traditional windows from HDYGD, as well as the modern innovative facadesystems from Aluplast.
Now the time has come to join forces and aim for new common goals. We have combined our excelences of knowledge and experience, and with highly skilled employees and solid craftmansship, we are more than well equipped, to solve all tasks and projects.
GRANT, which in faroese means clear and precise, is our new name. We want it to be clear and precise, that our products are of highest quality. In times to come you will get the highest quality from GRANT!
We hope that our costumers and partners will welcome our new name. And no matter the name, we will still do our best to deliver good service and products of highest quality.
